After Endodontic Treatment

It is normal for your tooth and the surrounding gum area to feel slightly tender for a few days following treatment. This mild discomfort is a result of the procedure and the condition of the tooth prior to treatment. Tenderness is expected and should not be a cause for concern.

Chewing & Eating

Avoid chewing on the treated side until your endodontic therapy is fully completed and your restorative dentist has placed a protective crown or permanent restoration. This helps prevent damage to the tooth during the healing phase.

You may continue your normal brushing and flossing routine unless otherwise advised.

Managing Discomfort

Most post-treatment discomfort can be relieved with over-the-counter medications such as:

  • Ibuprofen (Advil)
  • Aspirin
  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol)

Please take these as directed on the label or according to your physician’s recommendations.

Important: Avoid alcohol consumption while taking any of these medications.
