Before Endodontic Treatment
Your endodontic procedure will be performed using local anesthesia to ensure your comfort. In most cases, there are no restrictions afterward regarding driving or returning to work. If any concerns arise after your appointment, a doctor is always available for consultation.
Medications
Please continue taking all medications prescribed for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid issues, or any other medical conditions, unless instructed otherwise by your physician.
If you are unsure about a specific medication, feel free to contact our office prior to your visit.
Eating Prior to Your Appointment
We recommend eating a full breakfast or lunch before your procedure unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Antibiotic Premedication
If your physician or dentist has recommended antibiotic premedication due to any of the following conditions:
- Mitral valve prolapse (MVP)
- Heart murmur
- Cardiac, hip, or knee prosthesis
- Rheumatic heart disease
- Any medical condition requiring antibiotics before dental procedures
Please be sure to take the prescribed antibiotic on the day of your appointment. If you have any questions about this, please contact our office in advance.
Pain & Inflammation Management
If you are able to take ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve), these medications may help reduce inflammation when taken before your procedure.
We recommend taking 2 tablets of either medication 2–4 hours before treatment, unless contraindicated by your doctor.
